Factors to Consider When Choosing Headsets

Audio Clarity

It would be best to have headsets that allow you to hear and be heard perfectly across your driving range. This is why the audio clarity of your headset is undeniably the first crucial factor to consider. Look for headsets with high-fidelity speakers and advanced noise-canceling provisions to enjoy the best audio clarity. You should also choose headsets with strong mic sensitivity.

Comfort and Fit

The level of comfort you get from your helmet can make a big difference. Many headsets have essential design and material provisions to help you remain comfortable while you’re wearing them. These provisions include suspended/adjustable headbands, plush, sound-isolating cushions, etc. Additionally, some headsets have velcro straps, soft pads, and liners, all of which ensure you are comfortable.

Durability and Protection

Regular Off-road riding will expose your headset to vibrations, impacts, dust, and moisture. This is why you need durable headsets to deal with all the rigors of the trails. Your headsets should come in waterproof casings and reinforced housings built to MIL-SPEC standards for shock resistance. The push-to-talk controls(if available) should be rubberized, while the cables should be strengthened.

Connectivity and Integration

If you have an existing communication system already installed on your Polaris Xpedition, ensure you choose compatible headsets. This will help you maintain seamless communication across the board. If you want something extra, look for headsets that feature Bluetooth connectivity to pair with your mobile devices or other compatible communication systems. If you can only get wired options, check if the audio jack is operational and compatible. And if you fancy hands-free operation, check if the headset has voice activation and remote push-to-talk capability.

Power Management

Your headsets should offer a full-day runtime and you should be able to charge them using various means. The batteries should be removable(if possible) so you can replace them when necessary.
